Affiliations - Connecting to the Larger
World |
|
New Life
Baptist Church, like most Baptist churches, operates as
an independent organization. We operate under principles
of a church constitution adopted by the church
congregation. We function under the leadership
of a pastor called by the
congregation and deacons elected by the
congregation. However, as a matter of practice, we
have chosen to affiliate with other organizations
to carry out ministries
locally, regionally, nationally, and throughout the
world.
There are
several reasons we have chosen these
affiliations. First, we desire to identify with
other Christians who share similar beliefs and a
commitment to Jesus
Christ and to His Word. Second, our pastor and
members fellowship and minister with other Christians of
similar faith through local, state,
and national
programs and meetings. Also, by affiliating with others
we can be a part of ministries which we could not
accomplish alone - such as the supporting the Baptist
Children's Home and Camp
Manitoumi. |

| Association of Baptists for World
Evangelism (ABWE) |
|
|
The Association of
Baptists for World Evangelism is an independent mission
agency that exists to aid local churches
in the task of sending
missionaries around the world. ABWE works with over 5000
churches to support ministries in over 80 countires,
including the United States. A total of over 1400
missionaries are supported through ABWE and supporting
churches.
New Life Baptist
Church was founded through the efforts of Pastor Mark
Wood through his association with ABWE over a 15
year period as a church planter. During this time, a group of 25
Baptist churches and
10 individuals provided the financial resources
necessary to support Pastor Mark Wood and his
family. This enabled him to move his
family to the Lake in the Hills community and start the
ministry here. Over the past several years since its
founding, the church has grown to the
point where it
is now able to support a full-time pastor without the
asisistance of ABWE and those individuals and churches
who have provided support for Pastor Mark during those
initial years.
On
December 16, 2007,the voting membership of New Life
Baptist Church unanmiously voted to extend a call to
Pastor Mark Wood to become the first
fully-supported Pastor of the church. Upon hearing the
news, Pastor Mark immediately accepted that call with
great joy. He resiged his position with ABWE as a
church planter effective December 31, 2007 and
will assumed the new position of pastor of New Life
Baptist Church January 1, 2008.
The church
will continue to maintain a close relationship with ABWE
through support of other missionaries.

For several years,
New Life Baptist Church supported ABWE church planters
Ralph and Karen Boersma in their ministry to Book
Road Baptist Church in Naperville, Illinois. We were
pleased to learn during 2007 that the church has
grown to the point where they are able to
provide full financial support for the
pastor and his family. Thus, they no longer need the
financial support of New Life Baptist Church and other
contributing churches.
Since the Boersmas no
longer require the financial support of our church, we
are looking for other ministry opportunities.
